While the vast majority of your costs including fine dining experiences, green fees, and luxury lodgings are completely covered, we purposefully leave a select few windows open on your itinerary. Our experience shows that our guests deeply appreciate the freedom to explore independently from time to time. This thoughtful balance allows your party the flexibility to discover a local culinary gem or simply unwind and dine on your own terms.

No, they are not. Because our members possess highly diverse preferences and varying appetites, we find it is best to allow individuals to settle their own beverage accounts as they go. However, to match your custom requirements, a fully all-inclusive premium drinks package is gladly available upon request—simply speak to us prior to booking.

Quite simply, we are not a standard ‘tour’. The Roan Club offers journeys for those looking for a superior experience.
While there are several excellent commercial golf packages in South Africa playing beautiful courses, comparing them to The Roan Club is much like comparing economy class to business class—similar destinations, but an entirely different universe of experience. The Roan Club does not offer cookie-cutter group travel; we deliver an elite, highly private golf experience focused on accommodation offering uncompromising luxury, intimacy and privacy, and bespoke service. We exist to maximize the absolute value of your time and peace of mind.
-
In spirit and atmosphere, absolutely. Belonging to a golf club—where you share a passion for the game with close friends and loved ones—is one of the finest aspects of golf.
Rather than delivering a conventional golf tour, we created The Roan Club to replicate the distinct exclusivity, camaraderie, and intimacy of a private club environment while journeying through South Africa. We seamlessly blend world-class championship courses with curated.

The Roan refers to the Roan Antelope (Hippotragus equinus), one of Africa’s largest, most majestic, and rarest antelope species. Standing nearly 1.4 meters at the shoulder with a powerful horse-like build, a handsome strawberry-grey coat, and striking black-and-white facial markings, it carries an aura of quiet prestige and untamed elegance. Because they are incredibly selective about their habitat and live in small, intimate herds, they are exceptionally rare in the wild today, with only a fraction remaining in highly protected pockets of South Africa. In the safari world, tracking and sighting a Roan is a genuine, tier-one wildlife triumph—a symbol of true exclusivity and natural heritage that perfectly reflects the spirit of our club.

We deliberately utilize a combination of both to protect your comfort and your schedule. South Africa’s domestic commercial airlines are highly efficient, safe, and reliable; for short connections under three hours, our experience tells us they represent the most practical use of travel time. However, for remote bushveld hops or transfers into private game reserves, we seamlessly coordinate private charters and light aircraft to ensure a frictionless transition from the fairways to the wild.
-
Your safety, comfort, and peace of mind are our absolute priorities. We proactively plan every layer of your itinerary to mitigate risks for any unexpected occurrences long before you arrive.
Throughout your journey, you are backed by a comprehensive, 24/7 emergency response support network and accompanied by your dedicated Tour Director, who seamlessly handles all on-the-ground dynamics. By utilizing private transport, securing exclusive-use properties, and operating within premier, highly secure estates and reserves, we ensure you can completely relax and focus on enjoying your experience with friends and family.

South Africa boasts world-class private medical infrastructure, and your safety is meticulously monitored. While most of our destinations are entirely risk-free, transitioning into the wild Lowveld and Kruger region means entering a low-risk malaria area.
We highly recommend consulting your personal physician a few weeks before departure regarding standard preventative malaria medication.
Additionally, ensure you bring an ample supply of any personal chronic prescriptions in your carry-on daypack , as well as a basic backup kit of your preferred over-the-counter remedies for total peace of mind.

The Roan Club coordinates all equipment logistics seamlessly behind the scenes.
Your clubs will be securely handled and transferred directly between properties by our ground team or via designated regional aircraft constraints. You do not need to worry about dragging your travel bag through regional airports; your clubs will be waiting for you at the next staging ground, cleaned and ready for your next tee time.
Additionally, we partner with Ship Sticks to offer an optional service where your clubs can be collected directly after golf and shipped back to your home address, with members receiving an exclusive 10% discount.

Tes. Excellent rental sets featuring the newer options from most major manufacturers are available at Fancourt and Leopard Creek.
If you choose to hire clubs, please notify your Tour Director at least 30 days prior to departure with your specifications (hand, flex, and preferred brand) so we can secure your preferred set in advance.

While a physical certificate is rarely requested at the first tee, having an official handicap is a mandatory requirement for every golfer playing at Leopard Creek. Players who are clearly not registered or active golfers will be asked to leave the course. To ensure an enjoyable and fluid experience on highly technical championship designs, Leopard Creek enforces strict maximum handicap index limits:
• Men: Maximum index of 20
• Ladies: Maximum index of 28
-
All courses on our itinerary strictly require soft spikes or non-metal golf shoes. Regarding golf balls, it is highly recommended to pack a generous supply for Links at Fancourt, Leopard Creek and Kambaku along the Crocodile River, where natural water hazards and thick bushveld borders can be unforgiving. Premium golf balls and gear are fully stocked at all on-site pro shops.
